Learn from your Australian small business industry to avoid the most common mistakes

So, I had one of those infrared sauna places open up near my place a few years ago. It’s gotI the infrared saunas, got the ice bath, the salt therapy all that stuff. It’s already rebranded so my inkling is that they've sold the business because things weren't doing too well. Every time I walk past there, never really saw any action, person behind the counter not very exciting, walked in there once wasn't motivated at all to engage in their service offering. Then last year another one opened up, more high-end, same things happening so my question is these businesses are within a couple 100 metres of each other. What are either of them doing that is different to each other and what are they doing to attract customers in the first place? These sort of places now are a dime a dozen. So what are they communicating that is different to the competition? Is it in the actual service offering that they're providing? Is that how they're communicating? Is the type of audience of they’re trying to attract? What is it they’re doing that is different. Not just different to the competition but just to attract customers in the first place. Are they doing any marketing activity to drive awareness so that people know that they exist? Surely the new owner has got to take lessons from the previous owner, given they did no marketing, I'm not surprised that the business didn't do that well and they've already got new owners. I just hope that this one is proactive and making it happen to give their business the best chance of success.

Why innovation is important in marketing your small business in 2025

Driving to work today, I noticed an elderly man on the side of the road at the bus stop sitting on one of those portable walkers that converts into a seat. Now why is this elderly man story relevant to your small business? Innovation. What is it your innovating in your business to help drive things forward in 2025? By creating some innovation within your business, whether it's your product offering that you provide or the service offering you provide. Innovation create 3 core elements for your small business.
