How to make sure your marketing makes your Australian small business look credible

One of the objectives that small businesses are looking to achieve in their marketing is to make their business look more professional, more credible and even bigger than what they really are.

This happens a lot in the building and construction space, where a subcontractor who is going to tender for a tier one or a tier two building project needs to look credible and needs to look professional and trustworthy in the eyes of the potential tier one or tier two builder or developer.

So as a subcontract they might have all their ducks in the row but from a branding perspective and from a professionalism perspective they just don't cut it so they'll often come to Little Marketing to make sure that we are positioning them in the minds of their customers that makes them look professional, makes them look credible and gives them a bit of a point of difference.

The compound effect in marketing your small business

Let me take you through the compound effect of marketing your small business. So let's pretend in 2025 you spend 1 hour a day every workday on marketing, so that would equate to 260 hours of marketing for the year.

Let's pretend that you also invested $100 every workday for the year you would invest $26,000 in your marketing so you've invested 260 hours in your marketing and you've invested 26,000 in your marketing, as well now let's make another assumption.

Let's pretend that every client is worth $5,000 to you and let's pretend that every month in 2025 you get one client so out of those 12 clients you've generated $60,000. Now let's fast forward to 2026, so now that you have 12 clients on your books you can now use those 12 clients as social proof to show other clients how you've helped them.

Whether it's reviews, testimonials, videos, whatever it might be social proof and trust drives credibility for your business and helps you generate more customers and clients. So you've got the social proof now and what you've also got is 12 new clients that trust you, that you've done a good job at, that you can now tap into and get more work out of them.

So the domino effect and The Compound Effect continues and then let's pretend that we double down on our 2025 marketing so that by the end of 2026 we've invested 520 hours of marketing time and we've invested $52,000 in marketing dollars now I know what you're saying, there's some big numbers that don't relate to my business, however you understand what I'm trying to explain.

I'm trying to get you to think about the investment that you should be making time and money in your marketing so you get a Compound Effect year on year.

So now let's fast forward to 2027 so now you've got 24 clients that you can utilize from a social proof perspective you've generated at a minimum $120,000 in revenue and no doubt out of the 24 clients you've gotten more work out of them and potentially some regular work as well.
