We had a client come to us in the construction industry offering a really broad range of services. We followed the process that we go through with all of our clients, to really create a point of difference, create a bit of a plan and a structure around their marketing and then stay true to it. My favourite question is what marketing should my small business do in this day and age? There are so many activities whether it’s a website, social media, videos, podcasts, writing a book or holding an event. There are so many options and as small business owners you are inundated. Now all of those activities could work for your business but it’s about making sure that’s what’s going to work for you, your objectives, your audience and your industry. What is it that you’re communicating in those activities, that’s the most important thing, and that it’s different to the competition. There might be one activity that works so good for you and you might stick to that if it’s meeting your objectives and what you’re trying to achieve. Not every marketing activity is measurable, quite often what we see is that all of the marketing touchpoints work together, so do an activity that suits you, your budget, your objectives and what your business is trying to achieve.
