Treat marketing your Australian small business like your health
As part of my health and training routine, I do a 5k run every week. Now the one thing I’ve learned in doing this for the last 6 or 7 years is consistency and while I was running yesterday, I was listening to a 30 minute guided clip on Spotify and the guy talking was talking about consistency and finding your rhythm, looking at your technique, looking at your breathing, looking at your arm posture and looking at your back posture. He was in my ear for 30 minutes and as I was running he used the word consistency a lot and it made me thing about all of our videos and podcasts and the fact that consistency is so important to seeing results. Consistency in running, in breathing, in your stride, in your arms and doing it every time you run is no different to marketing. Your marketing technique will improve, your writing technique will improve, your posts will improve, your message will improve and it’s just about getting a start on improving, evolving and thinking about what marketing works and what doesn’t and constantly improving it.
Struggling for time in your small business? Try these 3 tips!
I met with two small business owners today and in both conversations TIME was the biggest obstacle that we spoke about. A few ways for them to help overcome time as an obstacle:
- Get rid of all of the wastage and things that don’t matter within their business, that don’t drive revenue and that take up time that are absolutely irrelevant and often superficial.
- Create some systems and procedures within your business that you can implement for yourself and your team.
- Make sure that the team is accountable and responsible for their role and that they’re being empowered to deliver for their customers and their clients and to drive revenue for the business.
That was just three examples that I gave in those chats about how they can remove time as an obstacle, so that they can spend more time marketing their business and driving their business forward.
Australian Small Business Marketing ESSENTIAL ADVICE
Why are you getting the wrong type of clients, the wrong type of products or just not enough business at all? We go on about the importance of positioning your brand in the minds of your customers and clients that are different to the competition. Quite often we’ll see small business owners decide on a positioning and then after about 3 months, because they’re so impatient, they change that positioning and then they start complaining that again they’re getting the wrong clients, they’re speaking to the wrong type of audience or they’re not getting enough work and it’s because they’re after the short-term fix. Marketing is a long game and it’s about being true to what you do and how you help people and people need to see that time and time again, over and over again. So, instead of complaining about the wrong type of products or not enough work or thr wrong type of clients, stick to the plan, stick to what you do well and be focused on your positioning.
