Is competition hurting your Australian small business - try this!
I had a chat with a small business owner today, she’s in a service based industry. She’s been in business for about 5 years and today she’s made the concerted effort to really focus in on a particular offering and become and expert and a specialist in that field. So by really focusing in on a particular category and positioning herself as an expert in her field, it’s going to allow her to create attention and really zero in on the right audience and in the type of communication that she’s putting out there. By positioning herself as an expert in her field, it will allow her to cut through the clutter and we always talk about how overcommunicated society is at the moment. So we really have a focus in her positioning and her brand and ultimately then all of her communication. All of her energy, all of her focus will be focused in on her speciality. It will then draw attention to her because people will understand her, understand what she’s an expert in with the goal of ultimately to drive that revenue and achieve some business goals.
Searching for a magic marketing activity? Here it is.
In dealing with small business owners for over 17 years, one thing I’ve learned is that there’s a perception out there from small business owners that there’s a magic marketing activity, that every small business can use to drive their revenue overnight. That is a myth and it doesn’t exist. Successful businesses are not made overnight, they’re all about consistency, perseverance and drive. The magic is in how you’re positioning your brand in the minds of your to eliminate the competition. As I always talk about, competition is one of the biggest obstacles for a small business and for most markets, so you’re really focusing in on what you do and what you do well, and communicating that over and over again consistently. Not just from a frequency perspective, but from a message perspective. So no magic pill , no magic marketing activity, it’s all that consistency powering through and asking how much do you want it.
Create a point of difference with a small business focused approach.
Knowing that time is one of the biggest obstacles for small businesses, our recently launched course allows small businesses to work at their own pace to create a point of difference and create a marketing plan for themselves that they are able to action. Now the course takes probably about 10 hours in your own time to complete and allowing you to create that point of difference is one of the biggest issues that small businesses find, even just to communicate verbally to someone at a barbeque exactly what you do and how you help people. Quite often businesses try to do a bit of everything for everybody, so then they find it really hard when it comes to actually defining what they’re doing and how they help people. So being able to communicate that in a really simple and easy way is so critical and the course allows you to do that. It allows you to create a simple positioning statement or a key message that you’re able to communicate, across all of your touch points. So, the course will help you create that point of difference and create a marketing plan that’s actionable, tangible and allows you to get some great results. You can easily find it, go to littlemarketing.com.au/ourcourse and enrol today.
