1 simple trick that will help you to take action in your Australian small business

If I think about what holds human beings back from making decisions in their life, whether it's financial, whether it's about their business, whether it's about their health or their fitness, I think it's not about being scared to take action but it's about not understanding where they want to go and what the finished line should look like.

Now if we talk about this in a marketing and business perspective, people often don't take action in marketing because perhaps they haven't thought about what the end goal that they want marketing to achieve for them and their business.

What is the end goal that they want for their business? Do they want an exit? Do they want to sell it to their family? Do they want to sell it to staff? Do they want to just leave it and let it go into the universe?

It's about thinking about the end outcome for your business. So whether it's your health goals, your fitness goals, your financial goals or your business and marketing goals. Have a think about what the end looks like and then work backwards to figure out what the action plan is to get there and how is marketing, when we talk business, going to help you to get to the end goal.

Choose marketing activity that suits your personality

I was speaking with a small business owner yesterday and they asked me whether I thought they should have business cards.

I asked them, what scenario do you feel like you would need business cards? Do you feel comfortable, is there a need, have you spoken to that person before, what is it that you're actually trying to achieve by handing over a business card or showing your contact details?

Now this is such a basic question but the reason I'm explaining this to you is regardless of your business, what's most important when you're deciding what activities to do is does it suit your business, your objectives, your audience and your personality?

All of these things play a role in deciding what activities you should do. There isn't a one size fits all for every business and the activity that they should be doing. It's about doing activity that suits what you're trying to achieve.

It suits your personality, it suits who you're dealing with and it suits what you're trying to achieve in dealing with your clients. We often talk to them about whether the message that we're putting out there or the activity that we're doing, does it suit them and their personality? Are they comfortable to do an activity? Are they comfortable to use a particular message that describes them and their business?

If you're feeling squeamish about a message or an activity that you're doing that doesn't suit you, then don't do it. Do what's comfortable or get over it if you feel like it's going to help your business.

It's all a mindset thing do what's going to be best for you and your business and what you're trying to achieve.
